Daisy Leigh Dawes

Daidaisysy was diagnosed with 2 severe heart defects at our anatomy scan at 23 weeks.  She had aortal atresia (underdeveloped and fully blocked aortal valve) and a Ventricular Septal Defect or VSD (hole in the wall between the 2 chambers of the heart) and required major open heart surgery at birth.

As the operations needed were so rare, the only experienced surgeons were in Birmingham or London so arrangements were made for Daisy to be born in Birmingham where she needed to be.
